Does Pepper Spray Work on Drunk or Psychotic People?

Some time back a lady friend of mine asked me very good question.
Unfortunately I could not answer that question at the time, but It really got me thinking.
The question is “can a pepper spray stop a crazed lunatic, like perhaps a mentally disabled person or someone who is on drugs? Or can it stop someone who has been “trained” to take the pain?”

I had never been asked that before and decided to find out for myself. Since then, I have came accross a great deal of information on the subject. I would have never thought
that scientists as well as the government actually did many studies on this subject alone.

So, to make a long story short…we have the answer! The answer is: “it depends on the primary chemical used in the pepper spray.” Thats it. A simple answer to a complex question. I will tell you why some pepper sprays can stop ANYONE, and
some don’t measure up. There are three basic chemical compounds used in defense sprays: they are…

CS. which stands for….ORTHOCHLOROBENZALMALONITRILE.
CN which stands for….ALPHACHLORACETAPHENONE.
OC. which stands for….OLEORESIN CAPSICUM.
at least i’ve got the last one memorized now.

OC is the newest of the three, and by far the most effective, and the only one that should be considered for self defense anymore.

Some pepper sprays have a combination of the 3 chemicals. OC is not an irritant. It is an inflammatory agent: and this makes all the difference in the world if you wanna protect your little hiney from some evil monster. When someone is sprayed with OC two things happen instantly. First, the person’s eyes clamp shut, hard! OC dialates the capillaries, so even if the person tries to open their eyes they would still NOT be able to see.

This doesn’t mean they can’t punch, kick, scream, or cry like a little baby. So I suggest, that after emptying the can of spray into their eyes and mouth, RUN!!! And call police.

They may try to put on the appearance that they can still see, but they begin to look ridiculous as their crying begins to get louder and louder. According to an anonymous perpetrator, “its like being hit by a flame thrower!”

This is true of anyone that is on drugs, drunk, or psychotic.

OC also works well on animals, although most versions are not made for that specific purpose. OC spray takes about 30 minutes to wear off, which leaves you plenty of time to escape. The experts recommendation is that when searching for a pepper spray forget about the name brand, it means nothing.

All you need is to look for the natural ingrediant called OC, oleo resin capsicum (the essence of red pepper). And if you need proof, just shoot a squirt in your eyes, or rub a bunch of serranos, or jalepenos in your eyes.Then, you’ll be the one trying to convice me how much it really hurts. On a more serious note, i know the OC sprays work from experience. Proof is in the eyes of the beholder.

Do you know of a recipe for red pepper spray for my plants.?

I have had a problem with squirrels eating my Chrismas Cactus when I put them on my outdoor patio during the warm weather. I need a recipe for some sort of spray which is distasteful to squirels and not damaging to my plants to prevent the squirrels from destroying my plants. I seem to remember hearing of a spray made of red pepper that is used as an animal repellent. Your help in this matter will be very much appreciated.

Place a handful of hot peppers in a large container and add a quart of boiling water. Soak the peppers overnight. Strain the peppers and add a few drops of mild dish detergent to make the spray to protect the plants.

panini question?

i received a panini maker for christmas and i just made the first sandwiches...yum! however i am unclear about whether the bread is to be buttered or not. the instructions said to lightly spray the grill with oil which i did. no butter then?
also, where can i find good recipes for paninis?

i did buy some good spreads...pesto, olive,some good cheeses and some roasted red peppers. what other ingredients do you suggest?
