The Red Cross and XM Team up for Hurricane Victims
XM satellite
radio and the American Red Cross teamed up to give the
workers and relief help for Hurricane Katrina a source for
national radio coverage. Red Cross staff and volunteers along
the Gulf Coast now have access to the channel, which is a
24-hour, nationwide XM channel to provide help and information
for Hurricane Katrina victims and other Red Cross workers across
the country.
XM Channel 248 -dubbed the Red Cross Radio is now available on
XM Satellite Radio from the west coast to the east coast. All XM
receivers, portable, at home or in your car can now listen to
the channel for updates and news. As part of the partnership, XM
has donated radios to the Red Cross and relief workers so that
they may stay up-to-date on a the relief effort. "In addition to
Red Cross Radio, XM offers the XM Emergency Alert Channel (XM
Channel 247), which tracked the hurricane's progress and now
provides updates on clean-up, road closures, school closings,
and other information from federal and local governments, law
enforcement, and other agencies." - (XM satellite radio) XM
Radio is proud to have the Red Cross channel, which it is using
to send out information and announcements to workers across the
region. The portability and national coverage of the station
allows all workers and all of those involved to be on the same
wave length. Support for Red Cross efforts is being heard all
across the country and the XM radio channel has played a large
part in this relief effort

Does anyone have tips for the American Red Cross First Aid Test?
I am taking a course in First Aid by the American Red Cross and I need to pass the test on First Aid with a 80%. My teacher said it is 15 questions and I am worried because there is a lot of information. I read the manual but I am not sure if I will remember all of it after all I can only get 4 wrong. Does any one have any tips that has already taken it? What should I focus on? Should I memorize numbers?
Correction: You can only get 3 wrong.

I Have an Ear Thermometer That Is Going From "101.8" to "103.6" within the same minute...?
I feel sooooo sick and I keep feeling hot & cold and with body sweats (even though I'm freezing!) and my body aches. I also have diarreah (I know, too much info) and a little sore throat.
The thermometer ranges almost 2 degrees difference in the SAME MINUTE... is this normal?
It's Almost Brand New, paid a TON for it, made by the "American Red Cross", and I am doing everything correctly according to the instructions.
Is it "normal" for my fever to go back and forth that quickly- ranging almost 2 degrees difference within the same minute? Also, what is "too high" of a fever (I am 30-years-old and still afraid to see a doctor and I am too sick to leave the house with my 2 preschoolers to buy another thermometer)
I have been doing this over the past hour and every time it's as low as 101.8 to as high as 103.6
Take three temperatures with your thermometer and average them - then do the same with your other ear. Ear thermometers are quick and easy, but you can easily place it incorrectly.
A temperature that is too high for adults is 105-106 degrees F. If you hit the high 104's, it's time to call the doctor. It could be as simple as him listening to your lungs or looking down your throat (pneumonia, bronchitis, or strep).
